***STOP PRESS*** Didsbury Dinners Cookbook Launch Party - 17th April 2011
"Didsbury Dinners: The Low-Carbon Community Cookbook aims to get us all thinking creatively about food sustainability. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards promoting food sustainability in Didsbury – planting a new community orchard; subsidising cookery classes for those most in need; working with local businesses; and other projects to create an atmosphere of local food sustainability.
As well as 40 pages of recipes from the likes of Rhubarb Restaurant, Folk Cafe Bar, Dig Veg Box Scheme, Bradley Fold Allotments and Didsbury Village Women’s Institute, the book explains why it is important to think about food sustainability and how one person really can make a difference. How to source food locally – from growing herbs on your window sill to signing up for a allotment, and from buying locally-grown foods to eating out sustainably, depending your level of motivation!"
A fabulous project and a great cookbook for anyone who loves good food!
***ARCHIVE*** Very excited to be involved with the Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation's latest guides Fish-free for life and White meat myths. These two publications are full of great research, information and recipes and some delicious flavourphoto images! Both can be viewed online via the VVF website http://www.vegetarian.org.uk/guides/guides.htm
*** ARCHIVE*** Viva! and The Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation have published the latest magazines. For the Viva!Life recipe section I have come up with some "mock meat" recipes include a vegan 'Chicken' Ceasar Salad, a superquick Hoisin Wrap and a delicious Meatloaf. There's also a beautiful Chocolate Torte (recipe by Sue Daniels who won the Bute Island recipe competition). Highly recommended! Veggiehealth recipes include Grilled Avocados, Wild Mushroom Ragout, a Sweet Chilli Stir-fry bursting with flavour and spring zing and a very elegant Creamy Strawberry and Blueberry Whip.
Missing out as a vegan? We don't think so.
